Job title: Assistant Operations Team Leader

Remuneration: £18,000 pa plus performance-related bonus, performance reviews will be held quarterly and salary will be reviewed six monthly for the first two years. After the probationary period the successful candidate will be eligible to join the Group Life Insurance Scheme and the Personal Pension Plan.

The Company

Our client is a successful, independent corrugated packaging manufacturing group with sales of circa £12m. Our client has three other companies within the group, and the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to advance their career within these businesses up to Director-level.

 

The Role

 

The successful candidate will have, acquire and develop a wide a range of skills over the first two years as detailed below:       

 

Main areas of responsibility:

  • ·         Support the senior team leader and manage staff.
  • ·         Step into the senior team leader role as required.
  • ·         Ensure quality of product is delivered on time to customers in a cost effective manner.
  • ·         Instigate improvement to team management and process efficiencies.
  • ·         Develop members of the manufacturing team.

 

Key skills

  • A desire to work in a manufacturing environment with a "hands on" approach to management and problem solving.
  • Leadership qualities.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Acquire a detailed understanding of manufacturing processes thus enabling problem solving and effective production scheduling.
  • PC skills including a knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Some knowledge of mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering would be advantageous.

 

Suitable Candidate Profile

We imagine this position to be suited to ambitious “graduate calibre” individuals who want to work in a manufacturing environment, seeking to develop a career managing and developing the operational functions of a growing group of businesses. The applicant must be willing to start work at the “grass roots” to understand the processes and people that are an essential element of the organisation. “You will get your hands dirty!” A successful candidate will be given a variety of on the job and off site training to assist them in their personal development e.g. product/process training and training in management skills/techniques.

 

Hours of Work

The role will require the successful candidate to work flexible hours to cover either the early or late shifts as required. Hence 39 hours per week on rotating early and late shifts:

Holidays

The basis annual leave entitlement is 20 working days. Additional holidays are based on length of service up to a maximum of 25 days.
