The Company Our client is a worldwide paper-based packaging business. A strong business, the client has developed a very comprehensive offer of a full range of material and print solutions. Technically very advanced in paper development, they offer an excellent performance packaging result to their broad range of markets.
A strong edge for design is at the forefront of the business, they offer bespoke solutions where possible and are extremely well equipped to provide large to small run solutions, die cuts, multi point glued work, case work and a full spectrum of print.
The Role The Retail Program Manager (RPM) is located on site at a major international retailer in the UK. The RPM is responsible to manage and execute our client’s entire day-to-day business activities with that retailer. The overall objective is to manage the print and packaging used on the retailer’s Asia imported own label products. The goal is to use our client’s capabilities to help them reduce their total cost of importing Asia own label products and, to help the retailer to sell more Asia imported own label products through supplying high quality printed packaging.
The role includes engaging with 6 or more divisions of the retailer’s operations and communicating up to 4 hierarchal levels in each division.
The Main Responsibilities:
The day to day activities will include managing the Asia packaging supply chain for this major customer; these responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Provide on-site packaging support for the Asia sourced products.
- Manage communication flow between the retailer, vendors and our client’s Asian manufacturing base.
- Ensuring packaging program timelines are met on pack design, pack artwork approvals, pack photography and manufacturing.
- Coordinating within the retailer on packaging cost saving projects, supply chain projects, packaging optimisation projects and creative solution projects.
- Understand the retailer’s packaging needs and generate solutions with our client’s team in Asia.
- Provide regular reports on all activities.
The Person It is likely that the ideal candidate will possess:
- Minimum five year’s related work experience.
- Solid understanding of packaging.
- Solid understanding of printing methods.
- Understanding of the retail environment.
- Be PC literate.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field may be useful.
- Experience of working in a complex multi-site activity operation.
- Proven administrative skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- An organised approach to managing their in-tray.
- Good communication skills.
Candidates without the above experience need not apply as our client will only consider candidates who can demonstrate a strong career within the corrugated / packaging industry AND retail knowledge.
