SAICA acquires Stirling Fibre Group (SFG)

SAICA’s most recent acquisition is a strategic move to help secure corrugated waste for its Partington paper mill which is based near Manchester and due to come on-line in early 2012. It’s also part of SAICA’s plan to become an integrated player in the UK and follows hot on the heels of the July acquisition of Cutts Recycling.

SFG was founded in 1977 and is a family owned business. It employs 100 people across 6 sites in Northern England and Scotland. It specialises in trading recovered plastics and paper sources from businesses and local authorities. The combined turnover of SAICA Natur UK and SFG is estimated at £70m in 2011.

Forbes Connor, SFG’s MD stated : “Stirling Fibre has always been a huge supporter of the UK paper making industry and we are delighted to be part of one of the largest recyclers of packaging in Europe. I firmly believe that the Stirling Fibre Group is joining the right organisation and we all look forward to developing and growing Saica Natur in the UK.”
