Smurfit Kappa suspends KL PM in Pitea, Sweden whilst boiler is revamped

Smurfit Kappa have temporarily ceased operations at its mill in Pitea (Sweden), until maintenance work on its recovery boiler has been completed. This work should be completed within 35 days and is hoped to improve the boiler’s efficiency. The mill’s 700k tonne KL PM is expected to be back at full capacity by 8/9/11.

This break in production is likely result in non-production of 70k tonnes of white-top kraft and unbleached liner.
