75 years in business for Gordian Strapping….

In 2012, it will be 75 years since Basingstoke based Gordian Strapping was founded as STRAPPINGS LIMITED in Central London, supplying wire strapping.  Gordian is one of the UK’s leading end-of-line specialists in package and pallet securement, and is the UK’s largest independent supplier of Polypropylene and Polyester strap. 

Gordian Strapping shares its year of foundation – 1937, with some other landmark events; Sir Frank Whittle ground-tested the first jet engine; nylon was patented; the BBC used their outside broadcast unit for the first time, to televise the coronation of King George VI and a major engineering feat, The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco was opened.

75 years on and Gordian Strapping is now a subsidiary of Strapack Corporation of Japan, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of strapping machines.  Since 1984 Gordian has also maintained a partnership with OMS, a leading manufacturer of pallet strapping, wrapping and
hooding equipment. 

With 75 years of pack securement experience, Gordian Strapping supplies stand-alone and integrated end-of-line packaging solutions including strapping, wrapping and hooding equipment.  The team also offers full turnkey solutions.  All equipment is installed and maintained by a nationwide team of 12 engineers providing local after sales service and support.

As a market leader, installing hundreds of machines across the UK every year, the Gordian Strapping brand has become synonymous with quality, reliability and exceptional service. 

The company has even had one of its products featured in a James Bond film – In 1985, a model 8-0L automatic strapping machine featured in the 007 Film‘ A View to a Kill’ starring Roger Moore.
