Kartonfabrik Varel, Germany, Announces Christmas and New Year Downtime
Kartonfabrik Varel, who manufacture containerboard and cartonboard in NW Germany, will be halting production on all machines from 23rd Dec until early Jan – somewhere between the 2nd and 5th. This decision is in response to the seasonal reduced demand as well as current over capacity in the market. It’s reported that this will amount to approx. 25k tonnes of lost production.
This downtime will be put to good use as all machines will be subject to maintenance, as well as further optimization for recently rebuilt PM 4.
Varel produces 850k tonnes pa of paper and board.
- 250k tonnes p.a of cartonboard.
- 600k tonnes pa of containerboard.
