North America pulp and paper rail traffic up by 2.1% in 2011

North American pulp and paper railroad freight traffic in 2011 was up 2.1% compared to 2010, and 4.7% higher than in 2009, according to statistics released by The Association of American Railroads.

 

W/E Jan 7th 2012 saw pulp and paper rail freight down 0.9% from the same week last year, whilst lumber and wood products were up 2.5%. Total rail traffic fell in the week by 4.1%, but total traffic in 2011, compared to 2010 showed a 2.5% increase.
