Price Increase From Hamburger Containerboard

Hamburger Containerboard has increased its prices by Euro 100 for brown containerboard and Euro 70 for white containerboard.

Far Eastern export price increases for recovered paper, which amount to around Euro 140, results in a marginally downscaled cost base of Euro 30, this is accompanied by a reduction in sales price of Euro 120.

Hamburger Containerboard are continuing to be selective with their orders and as a result, capacity will be reduced in Austria and Hungary by 15,000 tons from January to February 2012. The board stated "Before price increases in some countries it makes no sense to deliver with already strong raw material costs and at current sales prices."

The declining containerboard stocks of the last weeks show a constant activity level in the corrugated market and  Hamburger Containerboard expect a fast implementation of the price increase.
