Smurfit Kappa to Increase Containerboard Prices
Smurfit Kappa Group will be increasing the price of all their recycled containerboard prices, by Euro 100/ tonne, from Feb 1st 2012. This will be followed by an increase of Euro 60/tonne on all unbleached and white top Kraft linerboard prices from March 1st. Several other major groups are also raising their prices at similar times, including SCA, Hamburger and Europac.
This price hike should go some way to making up the lost ground on margins which were eroded in 2011, but will not bring them up to the high of mid 2011.
